The retreat
A TYPICAL DAY
As the sun rises, enjoy a morning meditation on the beach, tie up those runners and go for a beach run, or have a lie in. It’s your vacation and your call!
We’ll meet in the fitness room each morning for an AfterBurn workout led by our expert trainer. You’ll get high energy, fun, and challenging workouts designed to burn maximum fat and tone your entire body in only 30-45 minutes.
The specialized Afterburn workouts use a combination of (HIIT) High Intensity Interval Training and Active Rest Training to get your body to burn more fat and calories than traditional workouts that are twice as long.
Whether you're new to working out or you're an experienced fitness buff he will help to modify every workout so that you'll achieve your goals!
We’ll replenish with a power protein smoothie and some agua, while making our way to the yoga shala which is steps away.
You’ll then be led in a vinyasa flow yoga class with a view of the sea and those beautiful sea breezes. The flow yoga taught by Kathy Parsons, is a creative sequence of connecting hatha poses designed to connect body, mind, and spirit through strengthening, lengthening and opening. There will be a particular focus on stretches that complement our fitness classes. The classes are set to inspiring music and incorporate a special savasana massage. The classes are suitable for all levels of yogi’s. The second yoga class (usually in the late afternoon or evening) will be more stretch and restorative in nature.
There are two organic, healthy meals served each day at the beachside restaurant La Mesa Taina using only the best ingredients grown nearby. The menu is designed to give you the protein and nutrients you need to fuel your body for optimal performance.
There is plenty of free time to get a well-deserved massage, try SUP or surfing, relax by the pool or ocean or explore the town which is only five minutes away. On the Saturday, there is an optional organized excursion to a world-class farm which includes a fresh lunch and a float down a gorgeous river in tubes.
After dinner each evening there will be a bonfire and plenty of time for socializing, chilling or exploring the nightlife nearby.

Your hosts
Kathy ParsonsFor more than a decade, certified Yoga teacher (RYT-200), Kathy, has been on dozens of health retreats around the world. She professes herself as a "retreat addict" (and a type-A in recovery) and is now dedicated to providing the ultimate energizing and balanced yoga, fitness and retreat experience for others.
Her specialty is vinyasa flow, and her classes incorporate creative movements that strengthen and lengthen the body while staying connected to the breath. She also teaches moving meditation, yin yoga and mindfulness. Classes are tailored to the students with as much personalized attention as possible, including gentle hands-on adjustments and assists, inspirational music and a scented savasana massage. “ encourage students to push themselves to their personal limits, while not taking themselves too seriously. Smiling and laugher is welcome!” Kathy’s home base is in Toronto, and when she is not leading retreats in Cuba and around the world, she is working on her business The Santosha Life. |
Daryl DevonishDaryl has dedicated the last three decades to coaching and teaching individuals how to optimize their health and fitness. He presently owns and operates two boutique gyms in the Greater Toronto area, offering personal training and group training sessions. When Daryl is not coaching individuals, he is training groups outdoors to run obstacles like the Tough Mudders as well as coaching his two kids' in re sports.
His group sessions are high energy, informative and lots of fun. His philosophy is quality of life is not an accident, it is based on true intention and the will to keep progressing everyday. It all starts with your mindset and the ability to create/design your own lifestyle. Daryl encourages students to work hard to get rewarded and to focus on progress and NOT perfection. |
Cabarete, Dominican republic
eXtreme Hotel is located on Kite Beach, Cabarete, the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. A beautiful Caribbean Island (shared with neighbouring country Haiti). Boasting over 1,600 km of coastline and 400 km of sandy beaches, the Dominican Republic is a paradisiacal escape from the everyday. The Dominican Republic is best known for its breathtaking sandy beaches, Pico Duarte, the tallest mountain in the Caribbean, a picturesque rainforest and stunning flatlands. The Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean nation (after Cuba) and has a population of approximately 10 million people.

This one-time fishing and farming hamlet is now the adventure-sports capital of the country. You’ll find a laid-back, grown-up beach town, with top-notch hotels, and a beach dining experience second to none (not to mention the best winds and waves on the island). Cabarete has amazing beaches on the ocean side and a serene lagoon, El Choco National park and the Cabarete caves on the other side of town for you to explore.

The closest airport is Puerto Plata (POP), 30 min away from the hotel. It is 35 USD per taxi (fits 5 people depending on luggage).

The fitness facilities are top notch and the yoga shala is beachside and spacious. There is a large solar heated pool for you to enjoy, and one of the best restaurants on the strip is located onsite.
All rooms are spacious, comfortable, have a 52” ceiling fan and en suite-bathroom. They each come with a mini fridge, safe, screens against mosquitos, private bathroom, balcony and a 5-gallon jug of drinking water. There are single or double occupancy options.
